Postby bargegod » Thu Jan 21, 2010 5:50 pm

anyone ever use this stuff before? not going with PP this year. going with either Jerry Brown 130 or this stuff @ 100#. i think 2500yrds is 189.99. throw back some feedback if u hv heard ANYTHING on this stuff. man i hate spending a fortune on this crap, but it'll gimme 625 yrds of 100# backing on both 12's and both 9's. gonna top em off with mono of preferred choice of coarse. laterz...

I have used Tuf-Line XP for about 4 years in 50lb. and 65lb. No complaints here. I think it's a fine braid. Never used the real heavy braid though. Can't help ya there.
Never argue with idiots. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience! (Thank God for all our blessings.)

Hey Barge. I have a spool of 250# PP and the only line I ever lost from that reel is what I cut off to retie. I have had that on that reel for 4 seasons. I have to admit I didn't use it but one time last year. I have not used the pp on smaller sizes so whats the deal. Your not the only one that has said they won't use it again? Are you useing the solid or hollow core? Colored or white? Fill me in on that one. Are you breaking off? fraying? Sand Bar rash? Let me know becasue I have sworn by it.
Thanks,
Ron

hey ron. the only prob i had was the downtime in 2008/2009. i get corrosionx overspray on my 150# PP and it sat for like two months. well when it came to pull em out in the spring time, i was having 3 or 4 break offs per trip. NEVER EVER had an issue with it during the 2008 season though. i swore by it also. brand new, its hard to beat that stuff man. just dont get any overspray on it or it will TOTALLY screw it up man. it was a 250.00 costly mistake too. :(
i was planning on getting the tuf line xp, but listen to this... i looked at the price one night and it was like 169 or so. thought cool. 100#/2500yds... i'll do it. well the very next night when i was about to put in my order, it was nearly 100 bucks more....UGH!!!
so i decided to go with my first choice and did...2500 yds of 130# jerry brown hollow($317.99)... looking 4ward to putting it on. if im displeased with it which i prob wont be, i will go bk to my red 150# PP. laterz!!! :D

Ahh I see! Well I give it a good fresh water wash down and if I get an overspray on it it would be just plain ol wd40. I have a bow and was told that the bow strings have a bad reaction to wd40 so I try to keep it off my power pro as well. I know there are a few out there that really like the JB so I bet you won't have a problem with it.

I have braid under the top shots on most of my surf reels and a couple of my shark rods. I washed them down in fresh water then sprayed them down with real magic. Haven't had the ones with braid out this year yet, but I hope I don't get the same reaction as the CX. Has anyone had issues with braid and real magic?
